We're delighted to announce that Michaela Novotná has rejoined our lab — and this time, for good (or at least for the duration of a very exciting project)!
Michaela had already spent 9 months in our group during her PhD at Charles University and the Czech Academy of Sciences, where she worked in the lab of Gabriela Balíková-Novotná. That visit left a strong impression, and we're thrilled she's chosen to come back.
This time, Michaela joins us to work on a newly ANR-funded project, RiboStallRescue, which aims to understand the mode of action of translational ABC-F proteins — a fascinating class of factors involved in rescuing stalled ribosomes and modulating translation. The project will be carried out in close collaboration with the lab of Grégory Boël at the IBPC (Institut de Biologie Physico-Chimique) in Paris, combining our expertise in iTP-Seq and cryo-EM with their expertise in the biochemistry of ABC-F proteins to tackle this problem from multiple angles.
Michaela's prior experience in the group, combined with her background working on Antibiotic Resistance (ARE) ABC-Fs in Prague, makes her perfectly placed to hit the ground running on this project. We're excited to see where the science takes us together!
